As a huge fan of Ra fa el Nadal, I go into an SMH syndrome whenever I hear announcers and common folks mispronounce his name. His nick name is Rafa - which is properly pronounced by all, but add the el and all of a sudden the Ra Fi el virus attacks.
Mispronouncing a name is not relegated to only the greatest clay court tennis player of all-time, as even our famous characters from very famous novels get the name bungling treatment.
A recent survey by Audiobook reveals that about 40% of us have improperly pronounced the name of fictional characters, with Don Quixote at the top of the list.
