Reading the words independently of the sound creates another emotional and visual perspective to a song, especially if you start there first.
I remember how I used to love albums that included the lyrics and how I would read the words to decide which songs to play first. Some songs are predictable, you can see how the chorus will sound like a mile away and can even come close to its melody, or at least not be surprised by it, while others give no clue about its phrasing and spacing, elevating the level of anticipation.
Another cool experience is to read the lyrics to songs you've known for years. You will get a new perspective, interpretation and understanding and find out that not only were you hearing the wrong words but also from the wrong context.
I will go through my playlist, (which is about 5,000 songs and counting, -and each one would be on my stranded on a deserted island cassette) and highlight some going down the alphabet.
